Fan Fears

Just installed a new water pump on a '97 1500 with a 5.9L engine. How do I make sure the fan and clutch don't spin back off? Thanks!

They are right-handed, which is correct for the rotation of the engine, but that alone does not mean they will not spin off. Trust me.

Re: Fan Fears

don't know man, been through a couple hundred thread on fan clutches, haven't had one come off so far. If you are really that worried about it, put your wrench on there, and give it a tap with a small hammer. Just to seat it, and good luck removing it later. Enjoy

Talked to a Dodge mechanic at lunch. He said to beat the wrench, not tap it. Even showed me his wrench, bradded on both sides of the handle.
