Engine quitting 1997 F350 PS
I am having a problem with the engine on my Ford 97 350 PS quitting while i am driving. Could this also be the Cam Position Sensor? It will start back up most times, but it seems to be getting worse. Most forums are calling for the sensor and I plan on changing it ASAP, but I was wondering if there were any other possibilities.

Re: Engine quitting 1997 F350 PS
I would say the CPS sensor, its on of the first things to go on the PSD. How long since you have changed your fuel filter? I change mine every 10K, i would not go much more than 15 though, just asking for trouble then. The CPS sounds like the culprit.

Re: Engine quitting 1997 F350 PS
i work for ford trucks and the best and cheapest route would be to bring it to a ford dealership and have them hook up their scan tool to it and it will tell you what is wrong. then u can make the repair yourself or have them do it.

I changed my filter about 2000 mi ago. I do know that when the engine stalls, the tach shows no signs of life as I am cranking it over. As for the scanning, I am sure I should get it checked out, just hard to find the time. No one with a scanner very close to me
