Unhappy Engine Freeze problem

Hi,
I have 92 tercel , which I have had for four years ... it was in great shape. last week , it had low oil and and before I stop to add some more, it shut down and died on me. I took to the mechanic who said that the engine is gone because it has engine freeze problem. do you guys know what that is ? there was burning at all ... it just stopped ... would you guys know how much it would cost to replace the engine, the guy said 1400$ which is crazy for me.

how can I sell it this way , considering I can not fix it .. anyone wants to buy it for parts , it is in perfect condition.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

That sux!!! $1400 for a new motor? On paper the car running might be worth $1000. Are you sure you cannot rebuild it yourself? You might want to get a second or third opinion on that price. What state do you live in? My 92 just rolled over 166K. I hope it lasts alot longer as long as I keep up on the oil level. Mine likes to drink a quart per 1K miles itself. I stop and fill up the oil whenever I check the gas.

92 tercel

What color and model is it? I'm looking for body parts for my 94 and I think they're interchangeable. What part of the country are you located in?

I am in California , Los angeles precisely .... the car is in great shape ... it is light green ... let me know if you would like it for parts. I found someone who would install the engine for 1000$ dont know if I will do it. the car is worth around 1500$ I think ... since I am looking for a newer teercel and they are pretty expensive.

let me know if you are interested on this one,

Ibrahim

I will have to pass on that car. Ga. is a little too far to drive from. Used to live in Long Beach years ago though. Good luck getting it fixed. If it is in good shape you should just get it fixed. That $1000 would work out to only 3 months payment for a new car.
