1992 Bonneville Stalls at running temperature.

My 92' Bonneville stalls at running temp. When you first turn it, it runs fine, until the temp hits around 200, then it revs up and down until it finally dies. Replaced the oxygen sensor, all the vacuum lines, the throttle positioning sensor, fuel filter etc. Computer reader showed error codes 21 and 22, both throttle positioning sensor voltage errors, now the code is gone, meaning it is fixed but the car does the same problem. If i let the car sit for a half a hour i can go back outside and run it no problems until it hits running temp. Also checked the battery and that is fine as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I've run out of things to check.

Check the fuel injectors...it looks like you have an ohm meter.Unplug each injector and check for a resistance between 10 and 12 ohms...I have had the same problem with many gm multi port fuel injected engines and that was the problem...

Ok, unclipped all of the injectors, and tested them with the meter set to 20K. all 6 of them showed .002, so i assume that is a good reading, any other idea's i'm completely lost. Thanks alot.

It also seems like it's an idle thing, as soon as it hits running or near running temp it will die out, but if you hold down on the throttle body a little bit the engine will even out and stay running.

Re: 1992 Bonneville Stalls at running temperature.

Have you checked or cleaned out the idle air control valve, on the throttle body?

Re: 1992 Bonneville Stalls at running temperature.

are you talking about the mass airflow sensor? If not, where is the idle control valve located on the throttle body? thanks.

Problem was the mass airflow sensor.

Re: 1992 Bonneville Stalls at running temperature.

my 92 bonneville will do the same but i get no codes tho , just gets eratic and stalls out , but starts back up right away , what i see is i am going to have to just check everything that has been said in this thread , the mass air flow sensor os in the air box comeing in to the throttle body then?

Ya, it was the little square black box facing towards you on the throttle body. It has 4 philip's head screws. What i did to test it was, let the car warm up to the point where it died. Then turn of the ignition, unplug the connector going into it, and turn over the car. My car then ran, (horribly, but it didn't die out). Then while it was running i plugged it back in and it instantly killed. Just test it to make sure first, because it's a pricey part, i got one cheap, and that was $110.

Hope that helps, reply and let me know.

Re: 1992 Bonneville Stalls at running temperature.

i found out that the mat sensor was unpluged on the air box , and put it back on ,cleared the codes 23,31,58 , drove and it shows clear so far so thanks for all the help. i found out that the trany mount on the driverside is bad from who i bought it from . and at 1 time it pulled the hose off to the throttle bady ,so he said he would get me a mount for it. i thought that was cool.now all i need is a remote for the doors , i found a bunch on ebay that had abo0303t for the fcc id so then if i get that i will be complete, my 900.00 car is comeing into shape, thanks to all
