Cold Air Intake and MAS
I went out to talk to the mechanic who works on my cars and i had to pop my hood. Anyways he saw my intake and said that it was driving my MAS sensor crazy and that it was having to work real hard. I didnt see the big deal but it brought up another question. If i were to get an aftermarket MAS sensor ...one of the performance ones or whatever you want to call it would it help performance even though i have the intake already on?

Re: Cold Air Intake and MAS
do you mean a MAF sensor???? Mass Air Flow sensor?? if so, do you have a K&N filter?? many people over oil their filters, this creates a film on the temperature wire on the MAF and it will cause erratic readings, and poor runing engine. is that what you are talking about??? If you have a normal filter, and just a cold air intake, i see no reason that it would be over working the MAF, unless you have codes, or he can show you on a scanner that the sensor is doing something it shouldnt be, and then show you after he puts the new one on that its doing something different, it sounds odd to me. ive never heard of a cold air intake alone damaging a MAF sensor.

Re: Cold Air Intake and MAS
oh but yeah, an aftermarket MAF sensor will improove performance a bit. it will work to make the cold air intake even better by being less of a cork in the system.
