oversized throttle bodies

i have an intake and entire exhaust upgrade. i was thinking about getting a larger throttle body. will this be worth the $ for it? i have a 2.4 and noticed there are different sizes (52mm, 57mm, 62mm) for the bore on it. do the different sizes made different modifications on the cars performance? should i (or do i have to) replace the intake manifold itself? any advice would be appriciated on this subject. thanks

Re: oversized throttle bodies

well 52mm is what you have on you car, 56mm is the LGO/2.3 HO quads, and 62mm is the rsm one, but ive heard its really only 59mm. The best one i would say for the money would be the 56mm TB from the LGO, you can pick one up from a junk yard relativly cheap.

the larger 62mm will make a larger hole in your wallet....like $240.00 plus $ 100.00 deposit.....there's a guy on ebay that sells a 57mm for $ 200.00 or the the junk yard for a core and maybe find a machine shop that can do the work ...that's probably the hardest and not necessarily the cheapest.

I say go for it. I got a 62mm on my ecotec and frankly I love it. Made a difference via the butt dyno and Ill be damned if it doesnt make a sick sound when you give it some gas with the intake off.

Re: oversized throttle bodies

the 62mm is not worth the money you get maybe if your lucky 1-2 Hp and for $200+ buy a chip they sell on ebay and get the 1hp...

Re: oversized throttle bodies

!!!wow!!! what made this thread come back to life? i haven't had my cavalier in over a year now. lol. i did end up getting a larger throttle body over ebay from a guy and he didn't seal the throttle plate right and it was garbage. looping idle and lack of power. biggest waste of money.

Re: oversized throttle bodies

It all depends on what you have done to your car to start with... ya know.. If you have a stock motor with no mods, your not going to feel shit. If you have a fully built engine, i'm sure you may get a little more but nothing too drastic.
