Talking Newbie

Just a quick introduction. My name is Jason and I'm getting a Sterling Silver 2002 Intrigue GL in a couple of weeks. I'm looking for info on mods/performance parts (what's avail & where to buy). What do most of you do on your cars?

I'll be selling my Grand Prix GTP :-(

BTW, how do you do a search just in this Intrique forum. Whenever I do a search, it searches the whole automotive forum.com

Thanks in advance!

Re: Newbie

As with any engine, start by making sure that it is in good running shape, and then work on the breathing - cold air intake and exhaust. Be aware that if you open up the exhaust too much you will loose some of the low end grunt. IMHO, the 3.5 does a decent job of having both low end grunt and good high end power. Imagine what this thing could do if GM ever came up with variable valve timing like every other car maker has.

You can bolt on 5 or 10 or 15 horsepower with intake and exhaust mods, beyond that you will need to get into the internals or look at forced induction of some kind (turbo/blower/nitrous).
