Please help me with an oil change
Hi there,
I am a total amateur with cars but I'm trying to learn...so I bought "automotive repair for dummies" To learn how to do the "simple" stuff myself. My problem is really amateur because I'm looking for the oil plug which I imagine is under the car. I've taken a flashlight down there and I think I've found it (right below the engine and there's only one such screw where the screws are always in symetrical pairs). However when I used a wrench to open it I just balded what I thought was the plug. Can someone tell me if my description of the where the plug is sounds right? Aside from that are there any suggestions on how to remove the screw? Does anyone have suggestions on exactly what tools to use for this? I know this question sounds silly but I'venever been exposed to this kind of stuff before and I think it's important that I learn, If you send me an e-mail I can reply with a photo of where I think the screw is, thanks, Drongo |

Well first of all you are looking in the right place under the car so good start...the oil drain will be located nera the back of the oil pan and it should be pretty obvios....make sure you are using a socket or wrench of the proper size also throw out the auto repair for dummies book and head to your local autoparts store for a book specifically on your car... I swear by the haynes brand of manual...this will show a picture of where the drain plug is located for your specific car.

Re: Please help me with an oil change
Oil changes on a Sunfire can be messy & frustrating. Especially messy. You might with to take it to a quick lube place. For 20 bucks or so you get it done & don,t get dirty. They will make a big of mess as you would, but they will clean it up. I do my own but I trying to punish myself for pass sins.
