1997 Hyundai Elantra Axle Seal

I have a 1997 Hyundai Elantra. I have replaced the axle seal on the passenger side of this car twice. The seal seems to last about a week and then the car starts to leak transmission fluid again. I believe I am putting the seal in correctly. The flat side out and drove it in flush with the surface without deforming it. I looked at the bearing just inside the transmission where the drive shaft is inserted and it looks strange to me. The bearings are not evenly spaced, but the bearing fills tight and there is no play in it. Does anyone have any ideas of what is causing this car to go through axle seals? Thanks for the help.

Re: 1997 Hyundai Elantra Axle Seal

I've had success by soaking the seals in hot oil to help them swell before installing them. This is even recommended by some manufactures.

yes to what tibby said or try http://www.elantraxd.com
