I have a 97 GA with rod bearing problems, just wanted to know if there's a way to quite the engine down long enough to get it to the car lot to sell or trade in?.......Any help, much appreciated!

Re: need band aid for engine noises
If it were me, I'd use 90weight gear oil. Run it half/half, that should quiet it down until you get it to the car lot..

Re: need band aid for engine noises
i agree with the last reply, try a thick oil. some people say 20/50, use a nice thick oil and maybe throw STP oil treament in there its the blue bottle its like molasses thick as hell. maybe throw in two. but if you throw in two you might not wanna use 20w50 because it might not start right..

Re: need band aid for engine noises
Could wind up coating inner portions of the motor and move away from the hot moving stuff if its too thick and then the noise you hear will be much worse. Find a oil additive that claims to quiet down wearing metal parts and use same grade oil. I put in thick oil to try to stop it from burning so fast in my older car and it just made it die quicker.
