High Rev problems.

When ever I bring the RPMs up to about 5500, My battery Light comes on and my lights dim. Does the zx2 just have a really shitty alternator or what? Any help would be nice

Re: High Rev problems.

sounds like bad ground somewhere , looks to me like you moved alot of engine stuff round to make space for the cold air intake (which doesnt work that well open in the engine bay when engine gets hot) I suggest you look over any grounds that were removed and put back or repositioned before getting new alternators and such. Also what plugs and wires do you use? what kms you have on engine? Do your spark plug wires have numbers on them like 1-2-3-4? Are the plugs corroded? Does the plug wires stretch when you pull them? Sorry for the million questions , just will give me a better idea.

I actually only remove the old intake, that thing took up a shit load of room for such a peice of shit. As far as any other work I've done to the engine, I havn't done anything else but the intake, and this has been happening since before I got the intake.

I already though about that before I bought the intake. I took a look at the old intake and saw that it already was a sort of cold air intake. There is a duct running from the front left of the bumper that channels air from outside the car to where the old intake hooked into the car. The same thing applies to the new one, the only difference is that the new one can suck in alot more air and faster and it's mandrel bent for smooth air flow. Hotshot makes on hell of an intake.

One more thing. Thanks for telling me about the bad ground, I'll look into it and I'll probably order a grounding strap from Nology when I get the plugs and wires from them.

Re: High Rev problems.

Shouldn't be an alternator problem if anything a high rev will cause the alternator to produce more power.

I agree with Markgase2000 check your ground at least first.

Re: High Rev problems.

It's the altenator, mine did the same thing. It's just draining power from the battery until my battery went dead. Ford will get you a new altenator for about 200 bucks, and a little extra for installation.
