i have a 93 escort with 1.9 engine and it appears that the head gasket has blown , it is running water down the front of the motor under the exhaust manifold, so i was wondering witch is the easiet way to go , change the head gasket or put a new motor in it , i have a motor that only has 30000 mile on it, but the one that is in it only has 62000 miles on it any help would be greatly app. thank you

Re: head gasket or engine?????
I would first drain the oil... if there is coolant in your oil you may want to go to the extra hassle of swapping engines. If no coolant in the oil, just pull the head and change the gasket. You can take the head and the intake manifold off in one piece. It really is not hard and doesn't take all that long.

Re: head gasket or engine?????
Ya... if there was no coolant in the oil you should just replace the head gasket. Take the head and intake off as one piece. You can do this in just a couple hours if you are familiar with the process.
