Exclamation Anyone good places in Toronto, Canada?

I've been lurking for awhile, noticed a few people are in the Ontario area. Do you guys know of any good car model places in the GTA? I'm looking for customized kits. thanks!

I'm not sure what you mean by 'customized kits' but here is a pretty good directory of the T.O. area hobby shops.

http://www.iprimus.ca/~treadhead/directory/

So far I've found Dragon Hobby has the best prices and automotive selection.

P.S. Welcome to the modeling section!

thanks for the information.

oh, and I meant customized kits, such as slammed trucks, lowriders and hot rods, also customized parts such as rims, and other stuff.

They have basic box kits and a couple sets of crappy wheels. If you're in the West end you can try Hobbystar (?) in Mississauga. They might have more or can get more custom stuff. Otherwise HLJ might be the best bet for custom stuff.

Best place to obtain model cars customs parts etc. in toronto is a place called Pacific Mall 4300 Steels Avenue East Markham, Ontario L3R 0Y5, it's about 30-45mins drive from downtown Toronto. It's an asian mall, with many different hobby stores, some specializing strickly in the automotive domain. Anyone in the greater Toronto area, or Canada should give it try. (I live 500kms away from it) Let me know what you think. Oh and prices vary from store to store, they're reasonable,23-35$ sometimes you'll even get great specials, i got a 1/24honda prelude made aoshima for $17.00 canadian dollars! There are around 5 or 6 stores in that mall

Northstar Hobbies not Hobbystar lol, doesn't have many kits, itz mostly train stuf but if u really want a certain model, ask them to order it in 4 u cuz they will. This is the place where i usually go to first.

Pacific Mall is probably the best place to go to b-cuz they have many shops that sell models and half of them have parts to modify ur ride. If u go, chek out the real car shops. Although they mostly only carry parts to make ur car look riced out.

My best and last resort is to order from HLJ.com where most of us do.
4 me it costs $10 less even wit shippin and handling.

In a city as big as Philadelphia there are only 2 Hobby shops that carry car stuff, and they're both insanely expensive

You canadians are very lucky...$17 for a kit? That's like, $2.50 american here :finger: :finger:

Udisco is alright... in terms of 1/24 car prices maybe 3-4$ cheaper, at most 10$ , but his selection is catalog. Meaning he's got and can order the current kits and he's also got some discontinued kits from the 80's that nobody wants. Overall he sucks. Mainly cause he thinks Fujimi is going out of business, apparently. I'm not 100%sure, but he's (UDISCO) has been saying that for the past 2 years, however they (Fujimi) seems to be releasing new kits all the time. The only credit I give to UDISCO is for their prices in terms of Tamiya Spray Cans, $7.25 canadian+tax! nobody beats that!

Hey daggerlee , 17.00$ CAD = 2.50$ USD?!?! you got to get your conversions right! i know my dollar sucks but c'mon that was harch! And the 17$ prelude was a special, even i was shocked. But on average like i posted earlier, kits in Canada vary from 25-40$CAD, depending on the stores. Well for the good stuff anyway. A.K.A (MADE IN JAPAN) Cheapies suchas revell, AMT, ERTL, etc.. are basicly free. 9-19$ CAD once again depending where you go. :sun:

You might want to try Leading Edge Hobbies in kingston too. They are competitive in their prices and they will order anything, and get it to you quick.
