Angry Exterior door handle issues

I have a 2002 Alero. I purchased it used with 25,425 miles on it back in November. It now has 29,500 miles and is going in tomorrow to get the right rear exterior door handle replaced for the second time. The first time I had it replaced, it was only opening the door half the time, and it never returned to the fully closed position. The handle would stick out and cause a rattle on the interstate. Now, after having the replacement for only about a month, the new door handle doesn't open the door at all and still doesn't return to the closed position. Has anyone else had this issue with their Alero? At first I thought maybe it was due to the dealer (the quality of their work), but if that were the issue then the new door handle that I just had put on would not have worked for the last month. Also, I was on another forum and found a TSB for it. Anyway, if this has happened to you, please respond and let me know what the REAL issue here is.

BTW, anyone in the Denver/Boulder area here? I first started taking my car to Ralph Schomp in Brighton until they were EXTREMELY rude to me. Now, I get the "Silver Bullet" serviced at McCaddon's in Boulder. I would highly recommend them - they have the best people and the best dealer prices in the entire Denver-metro area.

Thanks!
Jeremy

Re: Exterior door handle issues

Jeremy, the door handles are the same as on the (old) Malibu. Sorry I can't help more. You had one, though, too. Probably the freezing weather.

Re: Exterior door handle issues

At the dealer, they tightened the door handle and "repositioned" the connecting rod or something like that. Whatever they did, it worked. Everything is back to normal.
