I am getting ready to put a intake on my 97 max. How much power can I expect to increase if any at all??

Typically on any intake you can expect to see an increase between 7-9hp but that isn't always the case. I've seen some dynos of certain intakes as high as 11hp but the factors for the dynos, ie conditions (hot or cold) vehicle condition (new used or bad shape, good shape) as well as with fan blowing on open hood or no fan blowing with closed hood. Also the different type of dynogear factors into this as well.

You could also have someone with a chip or someone without one when this results are posted, all of this plus other things I didn't mention above such as UDP or what have you makes the hp/tq rating differentiate from one brand's intake or another on any given car.

Bottom lIne: Don't necessary believe those as advertised ads because they never factor in these differences when they post the final numbers.

I don't know if the power increase was that much but I sure as hell love the sound of my intake.

Re: Cold air intake

a cold air intake on a 4th gen is a no-no. you're gonna lose power in the top end cuz of all that piping.

Re: Cold air intake

Don't forget to use the 5" exhaust tip and then you can expect at least a 50hp gain

What the f*ck? Please tell me that you're only kiddin!

The best intake is the GAB mod, buy yourself a K/N filter and cut a hole in the stock airbox at the top with a dremel and you got yourself the best intake.

The problem with aftermarket intakes is that you lose bottom end torque to gain 1-2hp in the midrange. Not really worth the 200plus dollars you spend for the bragging rights to say I have an Injen Intake or whatever kind you may have.

I'm not knocking anyone here with one but the GAB has been dynoproven to show gains higher than any other aftermarket intake. One other thing to add is that with the Technosquare ECU <they recommend leaving your airbox stock because of the powerloss with aftermarket intakes.

That alone should tell you something.
