Re: Re: it exist????
I think there is...one catch - they're not fully assembled. If I remember right, there is one in D.A. (page 245) that shows just the frames of all of them sitting next to eachother.

One is 56XPGT (still unfinished I believe), the others in the photo are '97 F1 GTR long tail chassis'.

Quote:
Now that I have the 'great book' in front of me... There are four F1s in that photo - one is simply a standard F1 road car in silver at the far back, the next one is a dark colored long tail, the next a light colored long tail - unfortunately, there' not enough detail to confirm or deny whether they are truly longtail GTRs or F1 GTs. The car in the foreground looks to be '56XPGT', and it appears to be almost complete in that shot. The photos on the page are black and white making it hard to tell what color any of them are exactly. A convincing clue that they all show '56XPGT' is the caption for the page referencing the "Hectic high-speed build of the first McLaren F1 GT model..." Now if you're familiar with the entire build history of the cars, you may know that all of the long tail GTRs were completed in the very beginning of 1997. The next car that was built was the F1 GT prototype, and then there was a run of 8 standard F1 road cars completed prior to the other two customer GTs being built. That timeline makes it hard to believe that the other two cars in the shot would be F1 GTs in my mind. I think they are GTRs nearing completion or possibly even in for a quick refit/rebuild following an FIA GT race. Its hard to be certain though. >8^) ER |
