if you are looking to run a moderate level of boost, up to 8 pounds you need an inline fuel pump, boost dependent fmu, colder spark plugs, a turbo blox map valve, and an upgraded clutch. If you are planning on going higher it starts to get more complicated.

how many miles were on the engine, at what rpm did it blow up, did you ever run over 8 psi of boost, what octane fuel were you running, did you have any detonation, did the engine have any problems before the turbo, etc.
There are many things that you have to consider when doing a turbo setup, if everything isnt right then one problem could cause a major failure.

Re: If i went turbo.......

i had 117k miles, and boosted 7-8, ran 91 and retarded timing. no detonation it was intercooled. the engine ran fine b4 i put the turbo on. i think the piston rings blew. i rebuilt the head cause i thought the valve seals broke. but i guess it was the piston rings.

if your piston ring went then more than likely it was already cracked or weak so the turbo just made the problem worse.
