strange smell

Last night while driving home, I noticed a burning rubber smell.
Today, while driving to work, I noticed the same smell, but worse.
I drive an automatic, it's not the clutch.
What could it be?

Re: strange smell

Was your heater on?
Sometimes my heater will start to give a faint burning smell (well it does not smell like rubber) but still.

Re: strange smell

When driving, do you hit any potholes or anything like that making the rear tire rub againest the body of the car, causeing a burning rubber smell.
