2002 Tahoe Heater/AC electrical problems

I have a 2002 Tahoe with 41,160 miles. I Have some of the same problems, When I stopped for gas my heater was off. After shutting off the engine the heater blower came on. I turned on the engine again and tried to turn off the heater, but I was unable to trun it off, I shut off the engine and removed the key But the heater/ AC keep on running. I stopped at the dealer, at the time they were only able to remove the fuse for the HVAC blower. I was told I had to make a service appt. for next week. Now with the blower fuse removed I have NO heat and none of the controls for the heater or AC work at all. The A C is ON and blows COLD are out and I can not get it to stop. also my Rear defroster does NOT work......
Also I've had problems with the horn.... I have had to replace the horn fuse many times. I have had to hit the horn several times only to find out that I keep blowing the fuse. Anyone else having some of the same problems.... MY Appt. with the dealer is set for tomorrow morning March 4,2004, Lets see what they say....and how MUCH it cost me !!

Thumbs down Electrical Issues

I own a 2003 Tahoe Z71 with electrical problems. The horn fuse blew 5 times already. Both of the directionals will turn on when turning the left or right signal on. Looked as if hazards were on. This only happened when it was very cold and wet, snow etc. This sucks got to get it in before warranty runs out. Waste of my time because Chevy sucks. P.O.S. I bet they do no even fix the problem. So glad I spent 50 grand. Never again. I'm going Japanese. I really think so. I am sure I will be stuck with it, because it is warming up and the problem does not occur. They'll say that they did not witness the problem so it can not be diagnosed or repaired. I'll wind up somewhere with no heat next winter. Can't wait. Have to move some place warm and dry!

Re: 2002 Tahoe Heater/AC electrical problems

the heater blower problem is a stuck relay it should be located in the power distribution block under the hood.

Re: 2002 Tahoe Heater/AC electrical problems

Hello,
I wanted to Update everyone about the porblem I had, with the Heater/AC controls & horn.
I took my Tahoe to the dealer and they had it for two days. I was told that the problem with the heat/AC was the "Main Controm Module" that is the heater/AC controls in the dash just below the radio, the Computer Control unit $157.60 for parts $170.00 labor. The problem with the horn I was told was moisture in the horn that kept causing a short. $49.87 parts & $42.50 labor..... Dealer said GM does not have electrical problems...... hmmmmm YEAH RIGHT !!!
COST a total of $446.76 ALL because this vechicle that cost over $40,000.00 had 6,000 miles over the 36,000 warranty. Buy AMERICAN made...YEAH RIGHT...and you get DISPOSABLE Vehicles. In the past I have had a Toyota and a Honda purchased both new and had both for over 10 YEARS and both had OVER 150,000 miles ....NEVER had a major problem..... After 9-11 this Professional Firefighter thought the right thing to do was BUY AMERICAN...... Guess I have to think LONG & HARD about that one again.... :0( That is really SAD!!! GOOD LUCK everyone... HAPPY DRIVING !!!

[quote=KWIK1]By the way let me know the outcome of your dealership visit.

My 2003 Tahoe has the identical problems with turn signals flashing the side mirror indicators simultanoeusly and not working properly or at all. Also the power seats shorted out on two other occasions. . I have had it fixed four times . Last week wipers didnt work properly, were jerky but then returned to normal the next day. I agree I am very disappointed in Chevy I had a Pathfinder that never required service except for oil etc. Dealer seems to just not care, kind of sad commentary on US auto industry which we all want to support BUTTTTTTTT.....
