Unhappy engine sounds and runs horribly rough after head gaskets replaced

I have a 97 Grand AM which I just replaced the head gaskets on, when I went to start the engine for the first time, it started up fine, but sounded horrible. Even though this was a huge improvement, I now have these annoying ticking and knocking noises, like there's no oil, but the oil level is right where it should be. Don't know if I might have missed something or what? Please help!!!!

I know that injectors will make a slight ticking noise, other than that, I'm not sure about the knocking noise. You can buy a mechanics stethascope and narrow down where the noise is coming from...Mike...

It almost seems like the oil pump is not working, but I haven't gotten any oil lights or warnings to come on.

How long did you drive with the head gasket blown?
I see it every day , some guy will blow a head gasket and drive it till he can afford to fix it and the motor starts knocking and the car or truck will run great but it makes that god awful noise almost like a deisal.
