Unhappy Issues

Ok someone please help me...my 98 Cavalier is once again acting odd. First it was the check engine light sporadically coming on for a few days and would then go off. It would go on when the thermostat gauge started going haywire jumping all over the place. So I believe my fiance replaced the sensor, that took care of that. A month ago it came back on, no gauge issue like before, lasted for about 1 week and went off on its own and hasn't come back on. Now the car wants to act like it is over heating (judging by temp gauge) when I drive with the heat on, turn off the heat and it slowly, but surely goes back down. Not seeing any smoke at all. I thought normally when this happens, the heat should be turned on full blast if the car is actually overheating. Not sure what is wrong with it. Ok and for some time now, my car makes a strange whistling noise (don't have the money to get it checked out and it works fine).

Can someone please advise as to what the problem(s) may be?

Thanks!

my 94 has done the same thing in the past-several years ago-but i cant remember exactly what was wrong. u may want to have it checked out tho' as soon as possible, it may be the heating core, or maybe the fan isn't working like it should. Sorry i'm not much help but i know what ur talking about
