I have a 2001 4x4 TRD excab.....when in 4 wheel drive and backing up while cutting the wheel it seems like it doesnt want to go and the back tires will start to slip a little.....hard to explain....for instance i was backing into my driveway and i was on asphault and it was like something was getting kinked up and then the rear tire would jump....is this normal?

RELAX buddy, this is a great indication that your 4WD system is working correctly!! Low range will magnify the conditions you describe and engaging that locker would downright make you believe that you are about to snap an axle half shaft!! Your truck is good to go just keep it in 2WD on the pavement!

perfectly normal...which is why it's not recommended to have 4wd engaged on any high traction surface (dry pavement) |
