OK, I'm ready to fire bomb it...

Put in brand new left and right tail light connector plates, have a left blinker (the old one burned out due to short). Also put new bulbs in doesn't hurt to be proactive eh. Thought it might be the brake light switch, course thats another stab in the dark.

On a positive note, while lying upside down in the seat I found a relay that appeared loose plugged it in and wham O now I have the "left your light on or key in the ignition" buzzer which I have never had working from day one.

SOoo a recap - right blinker activates left blinker, lisence plate lights LED, parking lights and dash lights - Left blinker blinks at a rapid pace - brake activates dashlights, brake lights (which appear to be engaged all the time with headlights except for the right brake light) and the parking lights - brake lights activate parkinglights and brake lights (except right side)

Ideas for solution:
Brake switch
Some unknown relay or fuse
Some short on for the brakes
Short in trailer harness

Also if you know any one interested in a 97' Suburban let me know =]

take a close look at that trailer wiring if either of the turn wires are touching the parklight wire it will feed power through the parklight circuit backwards and light up the dash. sounds like you have a fun problem there. also check your headlight switch and last but not least the multifunction switch(turn signal). try banging on the steering column and turning the hazards on and off a few times. GM has been having a lot of trouble with those things.

Can you please point me in the direction of this relay so I can investigate my "left your light on or key in the ignition" buzzer ??? That sure would be nice to be able to "fix"

I took a close look at the trailer harness, and I'm tellin ya it was corroded (sp) they use a lot of salt down here... While cleaning it with the truck running [in retro spect not a good idea] it sparked off and while not in a fit of rage, but agitated it felt good to cut the 4 prong wiring harness off but no such miracle for the elec problem, I'll try to trace it this weekend and let you know what I find.

The switch I found is located on a panel just 3" above your left big toe while sitting in the drivers seat, once you find that it is a charcoal colored rectangle with a fasten clip on the right. A horrible place to put it as this is where I stretch my foot on long drives, hope that helps.

Oh and the not having a right blinker with no headlights was a bad bulb still getting the back feed from somewhere, I'm going to replace the flasher relay and the brake switch this weekend. Basically I know more about astrophysics than car wiring and I don't want to look for a short. any help is appreciated.

So I barrowed Fluke 87 meter from work (praying that I won't brake it $800) and started testing fuses, relays and what not. Nothing came up other than I had a short with parking/headlight switch turned on. A very sophisticated device (fluke) and a non-electrical guy(me) both had the same conclusion we have a short. Then I went back to the trailer wiring and totally disconnected it and WHAM every thing worked finer than frog hair. What they did was wrap the too long harness around my hitch which is where I foung not one or two wires grounding out but three. SOOoo a big ol' Alaskan thanks goes out to amac209
