All MOTOR PLEASE

I recent purchased an tegra with a b18b non-vtec. All i have as of now is a CAI. I want to get at least 200 hp out of it, but without having to go to forced induction. I was thinking of doing an engine swap with a h22 but the engine i have now is running strong and only has 70k on it. What can i do to reach my goal? Thank you in advance for posting a reply.

Re: All MOTOR PLEASE

I would make it a b20/vtec that way you will have about 210 hp at the flywheel and you will have minimal downtime.

Re: All MOTOR PLEASE

take a hard look at turbo magazine's "project 200 integra" they started out with an lsvtec, and went from there. it will take quite a bit of work unless you decide to go trubo. they can be a hassle, but your engine is perfect for it. then again, i would stay NA if possible.

Re: All MOTOR PLEASE

I plan on using my integra for daily driving for at least four more years and i know nothing about turbo or know anyone who has one. im afraid that if i put a turbo on my car that it would screw up the engine overtime.

Re: All MOTOR PLEASE

it all depends on how much you want to spend. your engine is perfect for doing an ls/vtec conversion. My advice to you is to get yourself a b16a head, get it polished, get yourself a set of type r cams, sprockets, underdrive pullies, i/e/h , and most importantly a good tuner and you will smoke type r's. Ive read of an engine buildup with an ls bottom end and a 16a head and it made nearly 180 hp at the wheels! and it didnt have the cams which add about 10-15 hp. This setup will bring you over the 200 mark. If you really want to burn up the road you need to do some bottom end work. hope that helps

Re: All MOTOR PLEASE

there is a kit that makes this conversion real easy. It goes for around 200 bucks, i forget the name though. You need to feed the vtec with oil. Another good mod would be investing in some 310 cc injectors and an aem fuel pump.

Has anyone just added aem fuel pump and 310cc injectors? if so how much HP or torque does it add? and is it safe for the engine? (b18b)

Re: All MOTOR PLEASE

If you're going to keep the stock block and head, you won't reach 200hp. Period. I have 185 stock, and I have vtec. If I were to do a full n/a build with higher comp pistons, cams, blah blah blah I would be lucky to see 220-230hp.

Re: All MOTOR PLEASE

If you use a B16 vtec head you will gain the best of both worlds by having low-end torque, and high-end vtec powa, but they're a headache and relatively unreliable. Turbo your shit, it will be cheaper and you'll have more power.

Re: All MOTOR PLEASE

i agree... a b18b is perfect for turbo, piss on the ls/vtec! i bet you could even get a low boost turbo set up for cheaper than an ls/vtec conversion
