Angry Please help me. problem starting my 88 fc3s

i am 17 and I just bought an 88 rx7 and it was running fine until about two weeks ago when it just quit runing and ive tried everything that i have found on the net including unflooding and puling the plugs but when i pulled the plugs there was oil on the tips so i cleand the oil off and when i put them back in the car started but an hour later when i went out to start it again it wouldnt start and i have no idea what is wrong. the guy who sold it to me said that the engine was just rebuilt and it looks like it was from the out side but a couple of mechanics told me that there was no way the car shouldent start if it was just rebuilt 20k miles ago if anyone has any idea what is wrong please help.

does the engine even turn over? you might want to check the ground wire, it's simple little things sometimes that'll keep it from starting

i didnt work but have new idea

No the ground wire didnt get the car to start but i was looking at a website and it said that the FC will tend to over flood its self so i tried the simple unflooding procedures and it didnt start so i am going to try the more complicated procedures that i used last time i got the car to start which is pulling the plugs and the fuse and then turning the engine over. also some one on another forum suggested that it was a leaking water seal any idea as to what that is thanks. i will keep you posted if any thing happens

It could be leaky injectors and it simply keeps flooding.

Re: Please help me. problem starting my 88 fc3s

I used to have problems with the oil metering pump on my 12a's due to using aftermarket carbs and intakes. Check and see if the rod is stuck in the up position, and see if it moves up and down with the accelerator..Lets just hope that the guy who rebuilt the motor put the rings back in correctly..

Re: Please help me. problem starting my 88 fc3s

When you started the car did you let it warm up before shutting it off again? Often the engine will reflood itslef if you don't let it warm up, I would probably do the unflooding procedure a few times until it stays running.
And remember, to make sure you let it warm up EVERY TIME before you shut it down.

Re: Please help me. problem starting my 88 fc3s

No I disagree. I've had a flood or two. Sometimes it'll turn but not start. This kid doesn't seem to know what's goin on though. If you read his original message, it sounds like he may have unflooded it, started it, rejoiced, and then immediately shut it down without letting the excess gas get buned out. Sounds like it's still flooded to me....
