318 fuel pump fuse problem

Hi all,

(Additional. I have removed the fuel pump and confirmed that it is faulty. Bench tested it and it draws anything from 5amps to 20amps and runs very poor.
So, does anyone have or know where I can get a cheap pump from)

Today my fuse blew for the fuel pump. I changed it and ran the car for about 1 min then the fuse blew again. (I have no more fuses).
Suspecting a short circuit, I have removed the fuel pump and checked the wiring under the rear seat. All looks good.
I checked the current the pump draws which is about 9 amps on bench test, however when I checked inline with the fuse it was drawing only 2 amps before a quick jump above 15 amps and blow the fuse.
I have just found that there is a relay in the fuse box but have no details as the Haynes manual I have does not have circuit diagram for the fuel pump.
So, my questions...
first, has anyone got a circuit diagram for the fuel pump and relay that they could email to me.
second, I asume now that the fuse is on the relay coil side and not the contact side, can anyone confirm this for me.
Third, has anyone any additional information that could help me trace the fault.

Thanks

Martin
