Re: Stealth plate

I've heard of those. I also heard they don't work and if you find something that works, its illegal.

Re: Stealth plate

They do work. I`ve seen them. They work so great that companies here in the US and Britan dont make them anymore due to presure from law enforcement, people threating to file suit after getting caught with them, and things the like.

They used to be advertised as "off road use only" but people would use them on road, get caught and get angry.

If it does work there is nothing illegal about it, as long as you arent using it on public roadways. I know, I`m a cop, and I want one anyway. As long as I dont use it on the roadway I`m not doing anything wrong.

Re: Stealth plate

So what is the point of using them if they are not on the roadway?

because you might mount it on a truck flip it drive off road in mud and stuff then flip it back to your plates and drive home not needing to wipe the mud off the licence plates or a lowered car when parked, nothing looks worse then a sweet low car with a big honking californian plate sticking out!! doesnt corrvettes and camaros (newer post 90 ones) have stelth front plates?

The tag does not move or flip physicaly. A cleat glass, or plastic glass is mounted over the tag. There is a chemical, I forgot the name of it, that is inside the glass that reacts to electricity. It the same stuff they put in those prescription eyeglasses that turn dark automaticaly when introduced to sunlight.

When electricity is applied to the chemical in the glass it turns a opaque color, blocking out the tag...Looks like this gray backround. Flip the switch and your tag is visible again. Most states outlat any type of device used to block, or hinder the view of a license plate. Which is why its application is for car shows & off road use. Go to hotbot, or yahoo and search stealth plate or stealth tag..The company site is still up showing you how it works, but they dont sell em anymore.

Re: Stealth plate

It uses the same thing the Maybach glass roofs use.
