Thermo conversion

i am considering swapping my standard cluch fan for an Electric thermo fan setup.

does anyone know what sort of power increase i should expect.

i will be stoked to get rid of the noisy power draining, make my rig sound like a bus piece of crap.

just as long as thermos will b reliable, i go up the beach quite a bit. I dont think it would be fun driving home with no cooling system.

Re: Thermo conversion

Since no one posted an answer, I'll take a crack at it. I don't think you'll save more than 2 hp. Think of the size of an electric motor you'd need to run such a fan. Not huge.

On the highway, I don't think if drains much power since there is adequate airflow through the radiator and the belt-driven fan has a thermal clutch that would disengage under those conditions.

Re: Thermo conversion

Make sure you shroud the fans adequately. Unshrouded fans are useless.

Re: Thermo conversion

I finally got around to doing it on the weekend.

I used a davies, Craig setup it cost me $160

Feels smoother on acceleration and feels like it has slightly more torque. sounds much happier at high revs as well.

Also runs slightly cooler.

best part is it does'nt sound like a bus anymore!!
