Re: where to ground my amp

You should try to take the amp out and connect the ground to the engine block. That will tell u if its a problem with ur amp. or not getting a good ground.

Re: where to ground my amp

If the amp works when attatched directly to the battery you need to just add another ground for for the battery right to the firewall, or anywhere in the engine compartment. That's a pretty standard thing to do when adding an amp.

Re: where to ground my amp

Alot of times i've seen it like this: say you've got 2 amps... ground wire from batt. post, g.w. from both amps come together, join them together and ground them the same place

amp 1---------|
batt-----------|-----------ground
amp 2---------|

Re: where to ground my amp

thats what i did, i have 2 amps runnin and i drilled a hole in the bottom of the rear deck and grounded them both there and they work great, it could be your ground wire isnt heavy enough.... i have 2 8 gauge goin into a 4 gauge to ground.

Re: where to ground my amp

I just pulled back the carpet in the trunk and attached it to my antenna, like where it bolts on, just gotta remove the paint so you get metal to metal. works fine for me.
