life span

I dont know much about the stock 240sx engine in the early 90's. Im interested in gettin one. They all seem to have mileage above 120,000 where i live. How long do these engines usually last. Or any common problems id have to face down the road?

Well let me tell you. I just bought a 92 KA from some guy about to throw it away for $50. It has 144 thousand miles on it and when I stripped it down, I could find no internal part free from rust. When I took the head off, there was rust water filling the combustion chamber and about a quarter inch of deposit on the pistons and walls. Today I finished stripping it and the only things that it needs are gaskets, piston rings, and honing of the cylinder walls. Everything is in prestine condition for how old it is, and when you clean things up they look so much better. This is a testament to how well the KA will hold up over time.

I plan to give the head a mild port and polish and put in two exhaust cams and put it into an S13, as soon as I can find one with a blown motor. Iv'e just sold my S14.

Basically, I had terrible luck with it. I was done.
