Remote Keys

My recently purchase 2000 740iL only had one remote key with it.
Seems now I found where the 2nd key is. Listed for sale on Ebay!
There are several listed on Ebay. I guess the key is useless but the remote can be programed to work with my car from what I have read.
There is a programing sequence procedure on the E38.org board.
Has anyone had experence doing this and does it work?
Would like to know before I start bidding on old keys found in the drawers of car dealers, whick nobody knows what car they go to.
Maybe with a little luck I can buy mine back.

Re: Remote Keys

When the key is programed for your car
all the information is in the key when they
puted in a BMW computer then they know
your name miles and service on the car

Re: Remote Keys

hy,a bmw car have 10 keys,4 at delivery and the rest can be ordered from bmw dealer only from the owner of the car.You can go to the nearest bmw dealer and ask them to disable all the keys used in the car except yours, and if you want you can order at least one spare key. With the disabled keys the start of the engine is not posible. And if you have original alarm system on the car you must know the car have car key memory where you can set the alarm system to can be disabled with the lock and remote control or only with remote control.
