2.4L altima ?_sorry yall
does anyone out there have a 2001 altima. i just got one used about 7 months ago, and i have those pesky, yet helpful coolling fans that continue to cool every time the motor has been cut off. my first altima, a 1998, had this same thing, however, they only came on under extreme conditions. every time these fans come on on the '01, i have to wait until they turn off to use the remote entry to lock the doors. is there any way to turn these off, thanks
by the way, i have 2 seperate sets of Rad Fan 1, and Rad Fan 2 fuses, might one of these be to the automatic mechanism. thanks |

Huh? Why can't you lock the doors while the fan is on? Even if you have an aftermarket alarm I think they are only set up if something electrical comes on; not if it shuts off, so if the fan is on when you turn off the car it shouldn't interfere with the alarm when it cuts out later. That was never a problem with my Viper alarm on my Audi anyway. If it does cause problems, maybe just have that feature of the alarm deactivated?
As for changing the way the fans work, I wouldn't mess with them, but I can't stop you. Have you tried the AF Altima forums or FreshAlloy? The Xterra doesn't rely on electric fans so you're kinda asking the wrong group.

it seems like it is electromagnetic interference from the electric motors

I think I completely misunderstood your problem. What you are saying is that the remote can't get a signal to the control unit in the car while the fans are running, right? At first I thought you were saying that the alarm siren would activate when the fans shut off if you armed it before. Many alarms have a function that senses voltage changes, so that's what I thought you were talking about.
Anyway, I've never heard of the problem you are having (assuming I got it right this time.). If that's a factory setup you should talk to Nissan and ask them why your remotes don't work. Either that or ask on an Altima forum, as I'm sure someone else with an Altima has encountered the same problem. Might just be a matter of the control unit antenna being out of place or something.
