Whopped a Saturn

Hi,

I got a 88 STD hatch.
Just recently swapped a D1616 engine along with a 5 speed DX tranny to replace the shitty STD 4 speed.
Anyways, another friend of mine has a 96 Saturn SC2 Auto.
We were comin back from lunch to head back to school, he got next to me at like 40mph and floored it, i was in 3rd gear and downsifted to 2nd and just pulled on him like he was stading still.
Not a amazing kill but its my first race in da hatch.

Another friend of mine has a 92 Oldmobile Cutlass. Its an Auto with a V6 generating 160hp with 183lbs of torque. It weighs in at 3048 lbs.

We are gonna go from a roll and a stop. He is very confident that he will eat me up. Im a pretty good driver and i definetly have the weight advantage. Who do you think would win? From a roll? From a Stop?

Thanks

ahh, the infamous D1616 swap sorry, just had to point it out. But anyways, Saturns are pretty quick (except the fact that its auto) The dohc's are pretty peppy though. As long as the driver is good, theyre really not that bad of a car. I think you will win given that its auto but if it was a 5 speed and he were a good driver, i think hed take you.

i had a 90 cut supreme, with the v6 and it was pretty quick, prolly due to the weight tho you should still win.

Re: Whopped a Saturn

I was gonna get the Si tranny but the guy i know didnt have one.
I needed it ASAP and didnt have time to order one or pull one myself.
So he sold me a 89 DX 5 speed for 75 bucks plus a clutch. It has no grinds either. Hey, at least it aint da 4 speed lol.

Re: Whopped a Saturn

I have a HF CRX with a D15 and a DX tranny, and I raced a saturn DOHC and he ate me up. The SOHC's suck, but you'd prolly get beat by a DOHC if it's a stick and the person can drive. About the oldsmobile, I think I raced one of those 2, it was like some special edition or something and he got me by about a car in the quarter, so I donno...good luck!

Re: Whopped a Saturn

ya, I don't think you could have taken him if it was a manual. My dad has a 95 SC2, with the double cam in the 5spd. it goes pretty good, stock it has around 125 hp out of a 1.9 litre, and weighs 2360 according to autotrader.com, a little more than a d16a6 (essentially stock I assume) can take......but good job though x2

Come back when you beat some old granny in a wheelchair - then you might get a little bit of respect

Re: Whopped a Saturn

Lets see here's what I beat with my MPFI, si tranny, I/E:
92 civic hatchback w/ si tranny, p28 ecu. Masta was in the car with me and this guy was spanked...I mean 10 car lengths coming out of first. And I did it at least 5 times.
I beat a 92-95 civic ex 2 door. I stayed a full car length ahead of him for almost 20 seconds and I got up to over 100 mph before i slowed down.
I beat an old school Nissan Sentra SE which I spanked on the on ramp of the highway from a rolling start. Let's just put it this way. I looked back after second gear and he wasn't there....lol
