Windshield Wipers
I recently got a 94 camaro and i love it! One problem that is has is that the windshield wipers do not go back into the "park" position. Even when they are turned off, they are up on the bottom of my windshield. What do I need to do to fix it? Is it the wiper motor or a computer problem?

it is a problem in the circuit. Wipers are not computer controlled....The day that happens is the day I will never look at buying a new car.

Re: Windshield Wipers
actually, it sounds like a wiper crank arm problem. stand outside the car, hood up, looking at the arm that turns round and round connected to the wiper transmition, have someone turn the wipers on, note the direction that the crank arm is turning. have them turn the wipers off. they should wind down to the bottom of the windsheild, and then the crank should turn the opposite direction, and through a gear rotation pull the wipers down. if it dosnt rotate the opposite direction, its a wiper motor, if it does rotate the other direction, but instead of parking, starts back up the windsheild, its the crank arm.

Re: Windshield Wipers
oh and i forgot to mention, that the crank arm and trans for the wipers are under the cowl, you will have to remove the wiper arms to get the cowl off, then you should be able to see the workings.

I have a 98 chevy camero and my wipers won't park either.I took off the plastic molding from around the wipers arms to look at the motor but it's all the way under the windsheild.A friend of mine said it was some sort of circuit modulator, does andone know where it's located??

Re: Windshield Wipers
well, he might be thinking of the trucks, there was a recall on S10 trucks, and silveradoes, its the wiper module. but thats a different problem, with that they would turn on and off by themselves, and park halfway up the windsheild and not respond to the switch, what you are talking about is a failed transmission arm. im 95% sure thats what it is. not the circuit or wiring or any of that mess. a simple easy good old fasioned mechanical failure.

Re: Windshield Wipers
LOL, this was like the first thread that i did. Anyway, beleive it or not, just last week i was driving down the road and the windshield wipers just randomly went down. It was messed up. So, i tried to turn them off and off and when i shut them off they parked. The next time i did it however, they did "park" but instead of all the way down, they were all the way up! So, i have it now that if you fool around with the wipers they will park.

Re: Windshield Wipers
again i say, the trans arm is broken, if you dont want to fix it, and can live with it, go with it. but if you decide to fix it thats whats wrong.

Re: Re: Windshield Wipers
I had a 93 Z28 that had the same problem. It turned out to be the circuit board inside the wiper motor... It is replacable (I bought one on ebay but you should be able to get one from a local parts store). The Hardest part about the whole deal is removing the wiper arms, because they require a special tool. The wiper motor is located under the cowl vent screen.
