High Beams not working????

Hi all,

I have recently come across a new problem with my 2000 sunfire. My highbeams no longer work . When I switch from lowbeam to high I get nothing but darkness. Any ideas what might be causing this and is it easy to fix?

Thanks

Re: High Beams not working????

could be a number of things. start by checking the fuses and bulbs. it's not likely both bulbs would die at the same time but check them anyways. could be broken wire somewhere i believe the dark green wire to the headlights is high beam. could be bad switch, circuit breaker.

Its the recall that should be but never will be. Its probably that wire that muzikmann mentioned. If you have a sunfire you probably will hit that problem

light problem

I have the same problem with my 96 sunfire, the hi beams dont work, just my low beams work. If you find out whats wrong post it here.
I wondering if mines the module because if i leave the hi beams on and turn the car on and lights on they flicker quick and then off.

I'll let you all know how it goes with the switch replacement. I should have it done in a week of so. Mine did the same thing before they went out I used to turn the car on then the lights, they would blink and go out. I dont know it's all f**ked up though. Anyway I'll make another post when I know more.

Re: High Beams not working????

Hey all! Well installed the new switch and it didnt help the problem so we took back. If you do try changing the switch though you dont have to take the whole wheel off, just the top piece. We also got a new relay and tried it but nothing happened so it went back. The only thing we can think of now is the wiring. Be checking it soon. I'll let you all know what happens. If anyone else has any ideas let me know.

lights

Ive checked all my wire, and no shorts or nothing, i tryed the relay too. I am going to try and get the drm module and see if that works. I actually think that is what is wrong, if it works i will get back to you.
thanks

Re: High Beams not working????

I have a 1998 2.2L sunfire that has the sme problem we havn't had highbeams for about a month now and the problem started when we took our car into a near-by Gm dealer to get a recall on a firestarting wiring harness replaced. Ever since then we've had no highbeams. when we pull the lever to turn on the high beams the highbeam light on the dash doesn't show up, does that mean it could be the switch or something else?
