legal skyline

i have been reading the threads but couldn't find a clear answer, sorry if i missed it somewhere. My question is can i find a skyline myself and import it on a temp import bond (or however it's done)and then take it to motorex to be legalized, or does the skyline have to come into the country through motorex first, will motorex legalize my skyline or do i have to buy there skylines.

Ya know, if you're serious about purchasing it, you can call the guys down at Motorex and ask them about it. They're a really nice bunch of guys, and they'll tell you what's needed for something like that.

Re: legal skyline

Why don't you talk to Sean at RBMotoring, he can probably answer all of your questions, and give you realistic timelines and costs.

Wink Ninssan Skyline

If ya'll happen to be truly interested in a Nissan Skyline, I know where you can buy them. If you happen to be truly interested you may Email me or send me a private Message.

They ship them in from Japan and make them as legal to the US as they can.

Re: legal skyline

Hey RacerChik,
If you don't mind me asking... What's the name of this "company" that buys Skylines and sends them to the US?

I just so happen to work at a car lot in Japan and I'm still not aware of another RI other than Motorex and RB Motoring.

I am not exactly sure on the company name. I know the company is based out of New Jersey...

Look at Unreal-Imports.com under customer cars. Thoes are the skylines they bought and are selling.

Next tyme i see my friend I will ask her on the company name......

i looked into the site that was posted up and this seems like another too good to be true thing... but if it is... i'm ordering one... but how the heck can you make sure... all this talk about only motorex and rbmotoring can bring a skyline so it gets a guy kind of skeptical... but under $20k for a r32 sounds nice + shipping...

Re: legal skyline

$45k to $100 sounds a bit more realistic. If anyone was selling R32 GT-R's in the states for under $20k, I'd say they were too stupid to own a business.

they can do the legalization work themselves, true. but make them US street legal? no. DOT has only approved RB motoring and Motorex to LEGALLY import and legalize skylines. that unreal imports or whatever can do the work if they are so inclined, but still have to pay motorex or RB to OK the car to the USDOT, EPA, AND US customs.

EDIT: i just took a look at your unreal imports site. hahaha. they are so smart. they photoshopped their logo as winshield banners onto the cars UNDER THE CUSTOMER CAR SECTION. to me that raised the red flag. but get this.....look at the very bottom picture with that silver r33. look at the SUV next to it. not only do none of those cars have real lisence plates, but that SUV looks to me as it is RHD as well. what did they do? import a jap spec SUV for the hell of it? SMART! also, in the top left pic, i see a j-spec plate in the windsheild, granted it could be for looks, but with the rest of the blatant info..... those cars arent in the US. you missed the signs and got mistaken. you have to pay attention to detail when it comes to stuff like this .

look at the mitsubishi page of the cars that they are "selling". rally and race spec cars for under 40 grand? unbelievable. also, due to the fact that those cars are OBVIOUSLY still in japan. i thought "ok maybe its just those evo's i mean, it wouldnt be hard to get them in seeing as we offer the same models in the US." every other page is the same way. all the cars are in japan. and they even say that they arent registered to legalize for the US. although they mention that "they can easily do it". no. this looks like another Night 7 scandal all over again. this website is probably ment for europe and japan. not the US. some cars they would be able to get into the US, but the skylines? no. all you need to know is that only 2 companies can do it, and if one of them didnt do it the car isnt street legal. plain and simple.

BUT! BUT! however, for this company to get skylines into the US, they would have to pay motorex or RB to do the work for the car to be a-ok. this is a legitimate RI, im sure. But the price would be bumped up to the more sensible $30-$100k price range. you could do it cheaper if you found a skyline that could use a bit of work and sent it to motorex. keeps the cost down.

Re: legal skyline

I just took a peek at the site as well... Wow...

That is probably the worst photoshop work I have ever seen. Those cars are DEFFINATELY in Japan still, I've seen enough images of JDM Vehicles at shipping yards to know.

This sounds like a huge scam... O and oi boy, on their custom cars page, it says right at the top:

"These are some cars that have been purchased by US buyers"

But then I saw this on their Importing Requirements page...

"To all U.S. buyers, we are dealing with a few third party RI's that will do compliance to all the cars bought from us. The price of the compliance is added to the total costs of the car. You the buyers can always look for RI's of your choice, that's if they are willing to work on the car of your choice. Not all RI's can work on every car. We advise every buyer to call and do your research regarding importing a car to your country, not just the U.S. "

So Im not sure... Sounds sketch still that they had to photoshop their logos onto 'their' cars.

... This is why, Im a Zed dude

Re: legal skyline

if they are purchased by US customers, wouldnt they take pictures of the cars in the US instead of in japan? i also took a look at the DOT's RI list, and there is no unreal imports registered as a registered importer.

i think people should just pay attention to the details when they look at these things. its not as easy to get a skyline as alot of these kids think. you cant just buy one in japan and have it shipped over here. theres much more money and work involved.

Once again, all the markings of a scam site.

No physical address listed
Only temporary mobile numbers listed (Not going to get ahold of anyone at a fax machine)
No business by that name registered under the Better Business Bureau

Again, when it comes to several tens of thousands of dollars, I want to be able to go to the place on the spur of the moment and check it out before I'll trust giving them my money.
