What size exhaust pipes?

I am thinking of replacing my whole exhaust system. I currently have flowmaster. I was just wondering what size pipe is best for performance with the 3.8 V6... also how would i measure what size pipe i have on my camaro now? I dont know what size it is and i would like to know to see if i would want to keep the flowmaster muffler after i get headers and all.

Re: What size exhaust pipes?

yeah, it also depends on how much youve done to the engine, if its stock, 2.5in would be fine, 3.0 is about all i would go for, with small tube headers. now if you throw a turbo on it or anything like that, step up to the 3.0in system at least, and i know they sell the 4in system, and depending on how much air your pumping through that thing, IE big cam, ported heads, turbo, supercharger, NO2, that kinda shit, the 4in system might be worth while.
