strange noise??
Hey everyone, I've been snooping around here for a few months and finally decided to post. I have a clunking sound coming from the drivers side rear. It happens when the vehicle shifts its weight, around turns or bumps. i can't get the truck to make the noise by jumping up and down on the bumpers, and i've been to lazy to crawl in back while someone else is driving in order to pinpoint the noise. Has anyone else had this problem or any idea what it is. Thanks for any help.

Re: strange noise??
Check the rear shackles. THere may be too much play that's allowing the spring pack to shift right to left on the shackle bolt. This is much more likely with aftermarket shackles, but could happen on a stock truck if the nut were to come loose. That's the first thing that comes to my mind.
Also check your exhaust hangers. If one fo those comes loose or undone the exhaust pipe could swing sideways and hit the shackle. And finally; make sure your spare tire is pulled up tight.

Re: Re: strange noise??
i don't think its the shackles, i replaced the stock ones with calminis, and i took off the spare tire to do it so i'm sure its up tight.
I never thought of the exhaust hitting but it seemed pretty tight last time i was under there putsin' around but i will check it out thanks |

Re: strange noise??
well I finally had the ambition to climb in the back seat while my girlfriend drove and i found the noise. It was the latch on the back of the drivers side rear seat. Nothing seemed to be loose so i lubed the crap out of it with some triflo I had in the back and poooof the noise is no more.
