FastTalon;
Yes, it is common for the ECU (or ECM) to fail on these year Talons. Some people are content to find one at a bone yard, but I personally don't recommend that route, as you don't know when and where the unit might fail on you. There are a number of places where you can send your unit for replacement or repair. Do a google search (or any search engine will do) for eagle talon ecm, and you will find them. Most offer at least a 6 month warranty on their units. Typical cost is between $200-$250. Mark |

Re: 1991 Talon Ecu
1stGenRocks;
I didn't know you could get them through EBay. I would still advise against picking one up from a bone yard. They often times fail with no warning at all, and that's not something you want to have happen. Just as an added note, when mine failed I sent it to an outfit in Texas, and they repaired the one from my car. They told me they replace components in the circuitry that are substandard and known to fail. Of course they didn't tell me what exactly they replace. I've read since then that it is the capacitors in the unit that eventually end up leaking. My point is, getting your unit repaired as I did is probably the most reliable option out there, because you have the assurance of knowing that the weak link in the unit has been eliminated. Mark |
