Question Short Ram Intake Install

I have a 2001 Accord EX. Looking to install a short ram intake. Wondering if I need to reset the ECU. And if I do have to, how do I go about doing this. I've read that if you have anti-theft, you cannot just disconnect the battery. If its just a fuse removal, will this knock out power to my radio/cd player because i dont know where I placed the code to unlock it just incase. Thanks

I know when I remove the ecu fuse fopr my 90 lx, I dont loose any radio settings, I would think that you should be good to go if you remove the ecu fuse

Re: Short Ram Intake Install

I wouldn't pull the negative terminal on a newer accord. Most of the older accords don't come with passive ant-theft for the stereo. I wouldn't recommend it. Get another opinion first.

Re: Short Ram Intake Install

I wouldn't think that unplugging it would even be necessary, more of a safety precaution, however if you do decide to, either the security code or serial number will be on the back of the stereo. If you do lose power, many honda places will look the security code up for free if you know the serial number. It saves them the work. But I dunno specifically about the 96s, sorry.

Re: Short Ram Intake Install

I have a 2002 accord and if you disconnect from the battery you WILL need the code for your radio. It has happened to me. Security is not an issue tho.
