Smog tubes for headers?
(Ive got a similar post going elsewhere)
Anybody ever weld Smog Air tubes to a set of headers. I have an 80’s carbureted vehicle that has stock manifolds with the air injection fittings.I’ve tried to run with the smog pump disconnected, but it WILL NOT pass my state emissions check without it. I’d like to increase the exhaust performance with a set of headers. They are available with the smog fittings for smallbock Chevy but nobody makes them for my particular application. I know the mini-manifold-tube things are available separately. Has anyone ever attached these to a set of headers that didn’t have it? How would you do it? Drill, tap, & mount fittings in each runner & thread the tubes on? Or drill holes & weld the smog-tube-thing directly into the runners? And if you did it, did the welds last for awhile, or did they break? |

Well for now, lets just say it's not a Pontiac. It's a semi-custom application for a brand that doenst have alot of aftermarket choices.
I've posted this as a general header question in a few of the different manufacturer threads. Since I know there are no smog headers for late 70's Pontiacs either, maybe sombody found a way to install these tubes. |
