97 Tsi FWD -vs- 2000 Type-R

My buddy has a 2000 integra type-r and I bought a 97 Eagle Talon Tsi FWD a couple weeks ago.

We're planning on racing, but I thought I'd get some predictions before it happens. Both cars are stock, what do you guys think the outcome will be?

Anybody who knows DSM's knows that the TSi is AWD. So what gives?

Not all TSi's were AWD.

Take for example the FWD TSi sitting in my friends yard. It is not AWD. It is FWD.

He's right RedNeck, the Eclipse was the only DSM with a special designation for the AWD version.

At least he researched his BS. As of now, no Skyline newer than 15 years old is legal in Canada: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t71299-1.html

Why would I say BS? If you owned something as rare as a Skyline, especially in Canada, why would you use a pic of SOMEONE ELSE'S Skyline in your sig?

The fastest ITR drivers are hitting 14.2's 14.3's stock: http://www.dragtimes.com/detail.php?ID=195

Interesting. I've never seen a TSi in anything other than AWD.

Carnutttt, have you seen that at the track? Honestly I don't see any at the track, cause the car is rare. I have heard from alot of people that they typically run 15 sec. 1/4 miles. C&D got a 15.3 sec. 1/4 mile in one. Those mag times are probably done by a pro that does clutchless upshifts. How many people see those times in the real world with those cars?

NOT ALL TSI's ARE AWD

if it says TSi:AWD then its awd, if not its just fwd or samilar to the Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T.

No, I've never seen it at the track personally. Just heard it from reports from other people which might or might not be BS, and from publications I have read that reported it.

Why do you think I put down "the fastest ITR drivers"?

You're basing you're assumptions from what you've "heard" too, so I don't feel so bad. At least I have links to where I'm coming from.

Here's Motor Trend's test numbers on the car:

And here's SCC again, testing it against a Mustang GT:

And another from SCC:

I would think there are enough varying tests where it ran in the 14-second range to call it a 14-second car, you think?

These are all test drivers that probably don't own the car. Imagine a good driver that owns one and knows the car enough to eke a couple more tenths from it...

Re: 97 Tsi FWD -vs- 2000 Type-R

I have both of those cars in my stable now. I've also owned 1g and 2g FWD and AWD DSM's. Stock R vs. Stock Tsi FWD will be a pretty close race. The R makes a lil less HP than the Talon, but it's alot lighter too. This race will come down to driver skill. My ITR is not considered a "fast" car to me, but I have beaten a couple STOCK 4.6L Mustang GT's which are are running near the same 1/4 times as an ITR.

BTW.
Eagle Talons came in 4 trim levels that I know of:
DL (1g)........ 1.8L, no OEM body kit like Tsi/ES, no power options (windows, locks)
(ES 1g)(ESi 2g) 2.0L N/A FWD w/power options
Tsi.............. 2.0L turbo FWD
Tsi AWD....... 2.0L turbo All Wheel Drive
no convertable available
