engine leaks oil?

my engine leaks some oil i was wondering would that be alot to fix it?

That depends on where it is, what the exact cause is, the severity of the leak, and the type of engine. If you could supply the type of engine, the mileage and the source of the leak, we should be able to help you better. Something to this effect:

example: 1991 Mustang GT 302 V8 with 108k miles leaking trace amounts of oil around the intake manifold.

Modifications: KC Fog lamps, autodimming rearview mirror w/ compass&temperature, window tinting, rear speakers, front speakers, sub, synthetic ATF & aux tranny cooler.
Future modications: Dynamat interior, alloy wheels & new tires, intake, exhaust & intake manifold???

oh sorry about that i was kinda of a hurry here is some more info.


Year/Make/Model: 1984 BMW 318I AUTOMATIC
Body Style: SEDAN 2 DR.
Engine: 1.8L L4 MFI SOHC
Fuel: GASOLINE
Driveline: REAR WHEEL DRIVE
Manufactured in: GERMANY

it has 175,400 miles, it looks like the leaks from the pan only the source of the leak i am not sure about. it dripps alittle drops after you done driving it

If the leaks come from the oil sump you might need to replace the gasket between the sump and block. Remove the sump, clean, install a new gasket and put the sump back.

Other possibilities are also the oilplug if it isn't tightened enough or if its seal is damaged.
If if leaks from the front or rear of the engine it can also be one of the crankshaft seals.
