Re: replaced actuator, what wire ???

I believe you hook it up to the brown wire at transfer case switch

i got around to hooking up the new actuator. well is doesn't seem to work, so it must be something else wrong. checked fuses, tried brown & blue wire. no 4 wheel drive what could it be? no noise, no clunk, no sign of anything broken.

Re: replaced actuator, what wire ???

Try hooking the brown wire to the battery positive post, all it needs is 12v when the key is on, which the brown at the transfer case does. On my 96 I hooked up to a brown wire that terminated with a female blade connector near my underhood fuse box(was there for an aux battery setup, but was on the same fuse as the brown at transfer case)

Did you use/get the spacer that you need to put in the axle to make up for the length difference between the old style and new style actuators

replaced actuator.

You don't have to upgrade that actuator. You can still get the original actuator that came in the truck. GM part number is 26013495. It is the metal one not the new longer plastic one. It plugs right back in. But since you already have the new one. The brown wire splices into the switch on top of the transfer case.
