ok, My 94 bird (5.7L) stays at about 160 when cruising but when I'm sitting still the temp will go up to 220 or so before the fan/fans kick on and cool her down then it starts climbing again... It's a vicious cycle! It has been like that since I bought her a few months back. I have pulled the fans off and wired them to a 12 volt source and both work, I've replaced the coolant temp sensor, thermostat and I just replaced the water pump while changing out my opti. Is this normal? I am use to my cars always keeping a constant temp at a stop. Thanks everyone...

Re: Coolant temp
this is normal....cruising it will stay low but at idle it doesnt take long to get hot... i have a manual fan switch that I wired in myslef for bout 10 bucks and I flip that on and leave it on and it kools off pretty quick. U can kick the heater on high for a min, also and it will take some heat away... I would wire in a fan switch so when you are in traffic or whatever just flip it on...but the fan still operates normally also this is just wired inline with it so u can bypass the sensors if u want. Lemme know if u need help

Re: Coolant temp
Thanks BadAzz. I ordered a Jet fan switch in hopes that it will work to keep it at a more constant temp.
