As for this 11 for 11 bullshit, it was quite possibly the worst job the academy has ever done. City of God, 21 Grams, Lost in Translation, and In America got robbed. I'm glad a good movie like Mystic River got some highly credited awards at least.

I'm glad the LOTR fad is over. Lets all move on to greater movies.

I'm with Yogs on this one.Most of the NewZealanders who are celebrating this as some kind of national triumph had nothing to do whatsoever with its making.It's a film,cribbed from a good book,and made to make a profit.None of the key actors live here,it could just has easily have been made entirely in Hollywood.

Last nights 6 0'clock news bulletin was just plain straight out embarrassing.The important events of the rest of the country,and the world,were swept aside for a massive wankfest of how wonderful it was to win all of these awards for NewZealand...

...it's feet on the ground time.We didn't win anything.Mr Jackson and his employees did.And in the flooded homes and devastated farms of the central North Island tonight,films,television news,and Oscars in particular are of no consequence whatsoever.

That's what our stupid nightly news is like all the time. We (meaning the ratings-whore media) only care about Michael Jackson....

Which is why Americans can't find New Zealand on a map. Or they point to Madagascar or something.
