Hi guys and gals,
I have been comtemplating enhancing my Ford Ranger. My father has a 289 V8 that came out of a Mustang(which needs to be rebuilt). I myself am not an expert in engines(My father is). I am pretty sure that the 289 will fit under the hood, but my concern is about the tranny. What are the odds that a new tranny will have to been installed as well? If I need a new tranny then would that require a new rear end? If anyone can point me in the direction to were I can find some answers I would be greatly thankful. Thanks for any information Ranger_SS |

Hey, as for the engine, it will fit fine. People put 5.0L (302cubic inches) in Rangers all the time. You will almost definetely need a new transmission and im guessing new reared too, but i dont know enough to give you a definite answer.
check out www.therangerstation.com for all the help you could possibly need. Join for free, and post your questions in the engine swap forum. Good luck. PS - im part of the site, screen name is Jeremy.
