2002 GA Runs extremely ruff

My wifes 02 GA is running ruff the SES light is on. She has 80,000 on the car and it has been maintenance free car until now. The only things we have had to do is the normal oil service, brakes and tires. When she got home it did have and electrical burn smell but the engine was not running hot. The exhaust smelled rich as if it was not burning all the gas so I pulled the plugs to check them out and the coil pack was prettty hot could a bad coil cause this?

hows the car running, shaking really bad when it idling or anything like that, if you step on the gas does it bog down. if so then its probably your coil pack. replace that and see if its any better.

Yes my wife said it would only go about 50 I bought a code reader it gave me P0300 code for multiple random cylinder miss-fire. I will be stopping by the Pontiac dealer to get the coil pack since nobody seems to have in stock yet. Thanks for the info.
