Question 1997 RS vs. 2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V

I just got a real nice 1997 RS and my friend just got a 2002 Sentra SE-R Spec-V...we are going to race sometime within the next week or so and im just wondering who you guys think will win. The Spec-V has about 180hp. and 180 lb-ft of torque with a 6 speed manual transmission.. Its a lighter car but I think my horsepower and torque will make up for it. Plus I will have my Magnaflow exhaust and SLP cold air within the next month. Well let me know what you think and i will post the results!!

Re: 1997 RS vs. 2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V

its not gonna be as easy as you think it will be. the weight is the issue, if you had an LT1 or LS1 it would obviously be no contest, but the power to weight ratios on the v6 camaros is crap. im not saying that you are going to lose hands down, but it will not be as easy as one might think...

I dont know if you will win or not but i do know this. I have a flowmaster catback and a SLP cold air intake on my 96 3.8. There is a very noticeable difference when you have them on. I know most everyone gives these things bad reviews but i also have a throttle body spacer on mine. Its made by Motorvator. That little spacer made more of a difference on mky car than my intake and exhaust combined. I was really surprised. I have a spacer on my f-150 and it didnt do crap. So it might just depend on the engine and car.

You got him. Those cars are slow, no offense to anyone that has one. I raced one and gave him a 2 car head start, spun alot and missed third gear and still beat him before 110, pretty sad. Good luck with your win, oh i mean race.

yea, i think you will take him, i'll predict a 15.5 1/4 mile time with the intake and catback.

Re: 1997 RS vs. 2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V

We finally raced and it was a good ass race. It was coming aff a U-Turn and he was in front of me. I pulled on him in the beginning and we were dead even and stayed that way up till about 80, I looked over and saw him go to shift into fifth and as soon as he did i took him. He said he didnt get it into gear but we'll see what happens when we race from a dead stop. I just got my exhaust on and I ordered my SLP cold air today so I shood definately take him.

Re: 1997 RS vs. 2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V

If you can beat him, power to you, my friend had a spec-v and his was damn fast, i'd have to say faster than my '96 RS A4 w/ intake and LSD w/ 3.42s. But he was also a good stick driver. Question... do you have LSD and/or gears? If not and you still have the stock 3.08s, GET RID OF THEM... they are crap, any performance v6 must have LSD and 3.42s.

LSD is POSI, 3.73s will make you damn fast out of the gate, but your RPMs will be a little high on the highway. I don't think anyone should underestimate wht the SER spec-v can do, but w/ 3.73s i think you can take him.
