91 S-10 Blazer died won't start
I have a 1991 S-10 Blazer, 4.3L auto with over 200,000 on it.
It had been running like a champ until yesterday. I was driving it and the motor died. I had it towed home and here is where I am. The engine cranks over fine but won't start. When I turn the ignition ket to ON I only get one dash "idiot light", the battery. None of the other usual lights come on. No check engine light, Check Gauges, ACC, nothing. Just the battery light. It also seems that I am not getting any power to the ALDL connector. I tried to put it into diagnostic mode but cannot get any of the pins to give 12volts.
My truck did this three years ago and I took it to a garage. The repair was for a "Short to ground" that burnt out the "fusible link" to the altenator and "shorted the altenator to ground". Repairs were well over $300. Is there a way to test if the same thing happened, or a logical progression to track the problem down?
Any help would be great.
